About Kim’s K9’s Dog Training

Kim’s K9s is built on decades of hands-on experience with dogs across companionship, sport, and newly breeding.

I have been actively involved in showing dogs since 2004 in both New Zealand and Australia, with every dog I have owned achieving champion status. My background spans conformation, obedience, working disciplines, and structured performance training — giving me a well-rounded, practical understanding of how dogs learn, develop, and thrive in real homes.

I hold a nationally recognised Certificate III in Dog Behaviour and Training (22214VIC) and am an Earthdog Judge, as well as an active competitor. My approach is grounded in clarity, structure, and building strong foundations rather than quick fixes.

One of my proudest achievements is gaining a Register of Merit on one of my Dobermann — a rare distinction recognising excellence across conformation, obedience, and temperament testing. Achieving all three titles in a single dog is uncommon and reflects sound breeding, training, and temperament.

My first bred English Toy Terrier litter went on, within its first year, to win Puppy of the Year (2024/2025) and gain a working title, reinforcing my focus on producing and developing dogs that are not only successful in the ring, but capable, stable, and functional.

Today, Kim’s K9s specialises in one-on-one puppy training and early foundations, helping owners set clear expectations, household structure, and lifelong skills from the very beginning. I work exclusively with private clients, offering sessions either in your home (within approximately a 50 minute radius) or at my location, depending on your goals and your dog’s needs.

I intentionally focus on proactive training and early education, and do not take on aggression, reactivity, or separation-related cases. This allows me to provide thoughtful, dedicated support to families who want to do things right from the start.

Dehydrated treats coming soon.

What Puppy Owners Say

Families trust Kim’s K9’s Dog Training to guide them through the early stages of puppy ownership. Here’s what clients have to say about their experience.

As first-time dog owners, we were overwhelmed with our 10-week-old puppy. Kim’s knowledge and calm approach made such a difference. She guided us through training using clear, practical advice that was easy to follow at home. We feel confident, in control, and our puppy is thriving. Highly recommend for anyone wanting the best start for their puppy.

Thea H

First time puppy owners

Kim is one of the most skilled dog trainers I have witnessed. Her ability to understand dogs and communicate clearly with owners is exceptional. She has achieved outstanding results with her own dogs and is always generous with her knowledge. I have no hesitation in recommending Kim to anyone seeking professional training support.

Marilyn Ive- Smith

Experienced dog person

Kim helped me understand how to support my nervous dogs after a traumatic experience. Her clear explanations and practical guidance made a huge difference, and we saw improvements within weeks. I finally feel back in control and confident moving forward.

Problem → Improvement story

We had a great session with Kim yesterday to help us work through some training strategies with our new foster dog. Kim was very knowledgeable and helpful and our dog responded very well to her.

Her sessions are excellent value for money and we hope to have some further lessons with her in the future. I would highly recommend her. Thanks Kim!

Stacy F

Foster dog owner

Kim's Puppy Training is absolutely amazing! We started with the pre-puppy setup and followed it up with her 6-week puppy course. Thanks to Kim, we now have a confident, well-mannered 4-month-old puppy who brings joy to everyone she meets because of her impeccable behavior.

The training was a fantastic way to educate our entire family and establish consistent rules for our home. Kim's knowledge and passion are unmatched, and her guidance has been invaluable. I would never consider getting a new dog without working with her first. Highly Recommend!

Malissa K

Had puppies before.

We have a rescue dog who we thought had some alpha aggressive-type issues, but after Kim coming to visit we now know her behaviours are fear-related. It’s only been just over a week but already we are seeing improvements in her behaviour now that we know how to help her be brave. We look forward to seeing how far she can go! We highly recommend Kim. She is reasonably priced, super knowledgable and replies quickly to any questions you have. Wish we had called her Sooner.

Lisa M

Dog Owner

I have had the pleasure of knowing Kim and watching her and her beloved Dobermans in both the show ring and the working arenas for over 10 years. Watching

Kim work with her dogs, it is very apparent that she has a good understanding of what is required to develop a close working relationship between human and

canine and I have been in awe of some of the results and awards that she has achieved over the years. It is evident in her results that Kim is truly dedicated in

getting the best from each individual dog by applying different training techniques and approaches to elicit the best partnership.

Whilst I consider Kim a person of the utmost integrity and passionate about what she does in working with dogs, I have also been extremely impressed with her continual thirst for knowledge of the canine world and having a very open mindset and learning attitude, striving to continually improve Kim has a fantastic people and communication skills whilst

being empathetic and understanding (Lets face it, the bigger the challenge sometimes is in the training people not the dog) and combining this with her experience and knowledge, Kim will certainly be a great assistance for those seeking help in rectifying behavioral issues and challenges right through to providing training for owners and their dogs wanting to compete in the working arenas. I have no hesitation in recommending Kim to anyone seeking assistance, and in fact I already have, and the owner has reported immediate improvements, so a huge thank you from me.

I wish Kim all the best in her endeavours and it is great to see her applying her experience and training to help others.

Nichole W

Respected Dog Breeder

Amazing service provided by Kim. The crate, pen and snuffle mat provided were a godsend in the first few weeks of having our puppy home. Kim provides excellent information in a friendly and easy to understand manner. We would 100% recommend her service to anyone bringing home a new puppy or someone looking for any training for themselves and their furry friend.
